Getting Started
Somatic leadership development is an approach to leadership that emphasizes the integration of mind, body, and emotions in order to improve effectiveness and well-being. It is based on the understanding that our physical and emotional states have a significant impact on how we lead and interact with others.
By developing greater awareness of our physical sensations, posture, and expressions, we can become more attuned to ourselves and others, and more skillful in our leadership roles. And by leading from a place of embodied presence and connection, leaders cultivate more meaningful relationships with their teams and experience greater trust, engagement, and resilience.
Somatic leadership development typically involves a combination of sensory awareness, conscious movement, and coaching practices, tailored to the specific needs and goals of the individual or organization. Whole-Human Somatics offers somatic leadership development programs and coaching services to help individuals and teams enhance their leadership capacity and resilience.
Somatic work can have a transformative impact on your leadership style. By working with the body and mind as a whole, Whole-Human Somatics can help you develop greater awareness and presence, build stronger relationships with those around you, and become a more effective and compassionate leader.
Through somatic coaching and training, you will learn to identify and release patterns of tension and stress in your body, which can help you to regulate your emotions and respond more thoughtfully to challenging situations. You will also develop greater self-awareness, which can help you to identify your strengths and weaknesses as a leader and work to develop new skills and strategies.
Somatics can help you to become a more compassionate, resilient, and effective leader, with the tools and insights you need to build stronger relationships and achieve your goals.
We use a variety of methods and techniques in somatic coaching tailored to meet the unique needs and goals of each individual client or group. Some of the approaches we may incorporate include body awareness exercises, movement practices, breathwork and meditation, somatic experiencing, and guided relaxation. We draw from principles stemming from fields including neuroscience and somatic psychotherapy to support the body-mind connection and nervous system regulation. Our goal is to help clients deepen their self-awareness, release patterns of tension and stress, and cultivate greater resilience and vitality in their daily lives.
When combined with a grounding in organizational psychology, somatic coaching can help you better understand the complex organizational and group dynamics, navigate difficult conversations, manage conflict, and strengthen relationships with colleagues. As a result, you can become a more creative and effective leader and teammate.
It is relatively rare to find a form of coaching that combines somatics and organizational psychology. This is because somatics is still a relatively new field that is not yet widely understood or integrated into traditional coaching and consulting practices. However, at Whole-Human Somatics we believe that incorporating somatic practices into organizational coaching is essential for addressing the whole person and creating lasting change. We are committed to staying at the forefront of this field and providing our clients with the most effective and comprehensive coaching possible.
Our clients consistently experience sustained changes including:
1. Reduced stress and anxiety: Somatic coaching techniques can help individuals release tension and relax their nervous system, reducing feelings of stress and anxiety.
2. Improved emotional regulation: By increasing body awareness and learning to tune into physical sensations, individuals can develop greater emotional intelligence and learn to regulate their emotions more effectively.
3. Enhanced self-awareness: Somatic coaching can help individuals gain a deeper understanding of their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, and how they are interconnected.
4. Boosted confidence and self-esteem: Through somatic coaching, individuals can learn to inhabit their bodies more fully, which can lead to greater confidence and self-esteem.
Through somatic coaching you learn to tune into your physical sensations and emotions, and to use these signals as a guide for self-exploration and growth. Gaining this insight into your internal state results in heightened clarity and deeper connection in our daily life.
If you don't feel safe, somatic coaching won't help you. So we take great care to provide a safe and supportive environment for clients.
We also work closely with you to determine whether somatic coaching is right for you now, or whether it is advised to work with a clinical therapist first or in concert with your somatic coach.
Every person and history is unique. If you have concerns about somatic coaching and your history of trauma, reach out to us for a confidential intro call. We've seen it all and we can help you take the safest and most supportive steps for you.
The length of time it takes to see results may vary from person to person, of course. But most clients report feeling significant benefits in their lives and work within the first month of sessions.
Improvements in body awareness, emotional regulation, and overall well-being are common within just a few sessions.
